I just got bsnl dataone connection. I have taken the Home500 plan which gives me 2.5 GB limited usage including 2-8 night unlimited usage option.

The bsnl provied me a Siemens modem (SL2_141) which has wi-fi and 4 ports for rj45. Now i am going to setup it on my Fedora 7 os as well as on win os too. I will follow the guide posted here in this forum settip up adsl on linux.

Have u guys know anything about this siemens modem (SL2_141) like technical specifications etc. I really need that.

I did not find on siemens's website.after i setup the connection, i will post my feedback here.take carebye. I have also a Allience Broadband conection. What i did instead of pug-in the alliance RJ45 directly to my LAN card i connect to the adsl modem. Then i connect the RJ45 from modem to my LAN card (other end is connected to the modem). Connection is going fine.

But i cannot access the modem from 192.168.1.1. The login prompt shows 'Allied Telesyn AT-99241' and asking for ID and password. I use 'admin' as ID and password, but doesnot work. I did not setup the modem yet using rp-pppoe.what should i do, plz advice. How do i access the modem?and how do i use two connection (dataone and alliance) at the same time from that modem/router. Alliance gave me ip 10.10.55.x.

Appears the modem is set for alliance connection.5. Alliance BB is it cable broadband? Try admin and password allied. ( or contact CC of Alliance ). Presume, You are working In Alliance Bb now.8.

BSNL + ADSL siemensSL2_141 yet to be programmed. 4&5&7 Alliance Cable BB connected to which modem? If you are using Siemens supplied by BSNL please confirm. Because a cable modem data signal and Adsl data signal are different. Could be alliance default gateway.

You need not/ should not connect the siemen's modem to alliance cable broadband input. Company has clearly stated NO MODEM required. Direct connection via Optical fibre cable to their switches.
