But the poor mans version had a seperate aircon module, which i got off a wrecker, and the aircon guy wired it up (and repaired the aircon, sigh it was broken too) $700 later I was ready to get an aftermarket stereo. $700 later, new sub, amp, i had sounds.

If its a popular car theres probably a forum or group that have this question answered already, google is your friend. The car is an audi a3 2004 model. Malayalam asianet serials. To be honest i do not care about the gps, yet, i just care about knowing how to change bass, tremble etc and getting a frequency expander installed. I mean you think all electronics with a display should have multiple languages wouldn't you. Any idea on costs involved? Wonder if its easy enough to do yourself?

Will search around and see what i can dig up. I will need to ask him about the cost. Usually these people mark up the price pretty high. Personally, if I knew what I was doing I will do it my self but considering I don't have the tools, the software, knowledge I wouldn't risk it. Those people do and hence why they charge so high. Though I assume its pretty easy as most modern cars can have their software worked on through the universal obd port.

Its the matter of getting the right software tbh. Another mate of mine told me about his father's bmw that had a head gasket issue (according to Mcmillan BMW). Took the car to some indian workshop that specialised in euros and immediately found the fault was only a bad oil cooler.

While they were there, they asked about getting the gps to work in nz (car was a uk import). The guy had some mate that worked at bmw and was saying how he can hook them up with a good deal or something lol. Morel of the story, research and dig. TBH if this was ment to be easy, original jap owner would've replaced the radio already. Never had one myself, but never had a complaint.

What they basically are just some generic chinese low end domestic brand HU, modded to have some fancy interface and then fitted to a custom case that fits these type of dashboards. What I would personally do is diy it. Sound around did a 3D scan of a honda or some oem HU, customized it on the computer to fit a aftermarket rectangle HU and 3D printed it. Looked real good.
